Most remodeling companies are organized around trades. A homeowner hires a designer, then bids the drawings to contractors, then discovers the design and the budget were never speaking to each other. The gap between those two conversations is where renovations go wrong.
We work differently. Design, preconstruction planning, selections, estimating, and construction all sit with the same team. That means the people drawing your kitchen know what it costs to build, and the people building it were in the room when it was drawn.
It also means one point of accountability. When something needs resolving — and on a renovation, something always does — there is no question about whose responsibility it is.
PHR Design Build is the design-build practice of Pro Home Renovations, the name we have built and reviewed under in Dallas–Fort Worth. Same company, same team — the name reflects how we work now.
How we approach the work
- Design and construction belong together
- When the designer and the builder are separate companies, the homeowner ends up mediating between them. Drawings get priced after they're finished, and the negotiation that follows is really a redesign under time pressure. Keeping both under one roof removes that gap — and the finger-pointing that comes with it.
- Decisions are cheapest on paper
- Changing a layout during design costs an eraser. Changing it during framing costs real money and real time. We front-load decisions into design and preconstruction so that construction is execution, not deliberation.
- Communication is part of the work
- A renovation is disruptive by nature. What makes it tolerable is knowing what's happening this week, what's happening next, and who to call. We'd rather tell you about a problem the day we find it than explain it later.
- Craft shows up in the details nobody photographs
- Tile layout that resolves properly at the corners. Cabinet reveals that stay consistent. Waterproofing done to spec behind the finish. These are the things that separate work that looks good on day one from work that still looks good in ten years.
Local Knowledge
DFW is not one market.
Permitting, plan review, and inspection processes differ from one Metroplex municipality to the next — sometimes substantially. So do the houses. A 1920s bungalow near downtown Dallas, a mid-century ranch in Richardson, and new-ish construction in Frisco each present different structural realities behind the drywall.
Knowing which review process applies, and what tends to be hiding in a given era of construction, is the difference between a schedule that holds and one that slips.

Daniel Valdes is the founder of PHR Design Build, a Fort Worth–based remodeling and construction company focused on creating homes that are more functional, more attractive, and more valuable.
Daniel’s background is rooted in residential construction, remodeling, and real estate. That combination gives him a practical perspective on home improvements—not only how a project should be built, but which updates can have the greatest impact on the way a home lives, presents, and retains value.
As a Texas real estate professional, Daniel brings additional insight into what buyers notice, which renovations tend to improve marketability, and where homeowners can make smarter investments in their property. His goal is not simply to renovate for the sake of renovation, but to help clients make thoughtful decisions that improve both their everyday living experience and the long-term value of their home.
Approach
Daniel works closely with clients to understand their vision, identify opportunities within the existing space, and guide projects through the construction process. From kitchens and bathrooms to major renovations, cabinetry, layout changes, and full-home improvements, he focuses on balancing aesthetics, functionality, budget, and quality craftsmanship.
Through PHR Design Build, Daniel has built an approach centered on practical problem-solving, strong execution, and helping homeowners make improvements that feel intentional and worthwhile.
Jennifer brings hands-on experience in residential remodeling and renovation, with a focus on helping homeowners turn their ideas into a clear, well-planned project before construction begins. Her work centers on pre-construction planning, project development, selections, coordination, and helping clients think through the functional and aesthetic decisions that shape a successful renovation.
At PHR Design Build, Jennifer works closely with clients during the early stages of their projects to understand their goals, priorities, and vision, while helping organize the details needed to move from concept toward construction. Her experience in residential renovation gives her a practical understanding of how design decisions, materials, budget considerations, and construction planning need to work together.
Jennifer’s role is focused on creating a thoughtful, organized client experience and helping each project begin with clear direction and realistic planning.
