Whole-Home Renovation

White Brick Bungalow

This renovation runs the length of the house. Rather than treating rooms as separate projects, the design holds one restrained palette — warm white walls, pale oak floors, brushed brass, and honed stone — from the entry through the kitchen, bedrooms, and both bathrooms. The result reads as a single continuous house rather than a series of updates.

The Challenge

Bungalows of this era tend to compartmentalize: small rooms, narrow circulation, and a kitchen tucked at the back. The work had to open the plan up where it counted while keeping the character that makes the house worth renovating.

The Approach

The kitchen was reorganized around a peninsula that gives the room a working edge and a place to sit, with sightlines through to the dining area. Bathrooms were rebuilt with full-height marble tile and a curbless-reading shower in the primary. A built-in bench at the rear entry turns a pass-through into a functional mudroom.
